Christian Education:

The Ministry of Deacons consists of six members serving three year terms.

The Deacons are responsible for the spiritual development of the church.  They also provide guidance for those seeking membership at First Baptist Church.  The Ministry of Deacons is responsible for the administration of the ordinances of the church.  They prepare and serve communion in worship on a monthly basis and also to shut-ins as requested.  They assist with baptism at the pastor’s request. They can appoint additional sub-committees to implement the work of the ministry.  They provide visits to those who are sick, in need or spiritually distressed.  Lastly, they manage the Deacon’s Benevolence Fund which helps those in our community who have specific needs.

The Ministry of Christian Education is made up of five members serving three year terms.

This ministry is responsible for evaluating discipleship and education within the body and finding qualified people to lead various educational opportunities.  They also provide oversight and guidance for the nursery.

The Ministry of Fellowship consists of six members serving three year terms.

The Fellowship Ministry exists to encourage members of the church to utilize their talents and spiritual gifts.  Every year, this ministry plans events that foster fellowship among members and prospective members of the church. They also plan outreach events in conjunction with other ministries with the goal of introducing FBC to the community, particularly those without a church home.

The Ministry of Physical Maintenance consists of three members serving three year terms.

Physical Maintenance is responsible for the maintenance and security of all church property, buildings and contents. They enlist volunteers to help with various tasks around the church property.

The  Ministry of Missions consists of five members serving three year terms.

The Missions Ministry is responsible for the nurturing and promoting of missionary interests and the carrying out of mission education. They promote special missionary offerings, mission endeavors with which the church is identified, and coordinate missionary activities of any organized groups within the church, including ABWM & ABM.

The Personnel Committee consists of four, council-appointed members.

The Personnel Committee is responsible for preparing council approved contracts and job descriptions for all persons employed by the church in coordination with the associated ministry and/or supervising individual. They then interview applicants for positions to be filled as requested by the church council. The Personnel Committee, in conjunction with the senior pastor, conduct yearly evaluations of all staff and recommend any compensation adjustments to the Ministry of Stewardship for inclusion in the annual budget. Job descriptions and the “Personnel Policy Manual” are reviewed every two years or prior to changes in Personnel members.

The Nominating Committee consists of five council-appointed members. Each member must have been a member for at least a year.

The nominating committee is responsible for preparing a list of candidates, and places into nomination at least one name for each elected position to be filled at the annual election.

The Ministry of Stewardship consists of three members serving three year terms.

Stewardship is in charge of planning the church’s financial and stewardship programs. They review written requests for operating costs and proposed expenditures from the other ministries and determine the feasibility of meeting the proposed budget with predicted income. Stewardship establishes the policies and procedures for handling, disbursing and reporting of all moneys

received by the church, including wills, trusts and estates, and assure the financial affairs of the church are  handled in a responsible fashion.
