Welcome to the First Baptist Church of Rapid City website! Let me tell you a little about who we are. We are an American Baptist Church (see http://www.abc-usa.org/) and are a part of the ABC Dakotas region (see http://www.abc-dakotas.org/). We’re also very close to beautiful Camp Judson in the Hills (see http://www.campjudson.org/).
Our worship services are at 8:30am and 10:45am on Sunday morning. The 8:30am service is more traditional. We sing hymns, recite the Lord’s Prayer, and incorporate more liturgy in this service. Our 10:45am service includes more contemporary music, video clips, and the style is more casual. Our Sunday School hour runs from 9:30am – 10:30am. There are some exceptions to this schedule.
Whenever there is a 5th Sunday in the month, we have Sunday School at 9:00am and worship at 10:00am. Also on major national holidays we will sometimes go with a 9:00am Sunday School and 10:00am worship schedule. A way to be sure is simply to call our church office number at 605-343-0342.
Our midweek schedule includes a day we call W.O.W. That stands for Worship On Wednesday. The W.O.W. schedule begins in September and runs through May. We have an evening meal that begins at 6:00pm and is free of charge. Discipleship classes for 4-year olds through Senior Citizens happen from 6:30pm-7:30pm and we have a staffed nursery for those who wish to take advantage of it for the real young ones. The choir also currently practices from 5:30pm-6:15pm and we’re always looking for new people who like to sing.
